National Green Tribunal taking a serious notice of the spreading Foulness in Sultanpur lodhi, instructed the Deputy commissioner Kapurthala to give a reply within one month. This matter was brought into the notice of NGT through E-mail by the Sewadar Gurwinder Singh Boparai of Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal Ji. With this news the cuttings of the news, published in the newspapers were also sent. It was said in the complaint that Sultanpur lodhi Nagar Council has no proper place for the disposal of garbage. Taking serious action on this issue four member bench, made under the leadership of NGT Chairman Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel includes Justice S.P Wangdi, Justice K. Ramakrishnan and expert member Dr Nagin Nanda.
NGT on 16th January 2019 instructed Magistrate Kapurthala to take a proper action and report within a month. Next hearing of this issue is fixed on 30th April. Talking on this, the complainer Gurwinder Singh Boparai told that 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is coming on 12th November 2019. Known as Babe Di Nagri the historical city Sultanpur lodhi has no proper place for the dumping of garbage. Council is continuously throwing the garbage in the vacant plots in the city, with it there is always a danger of spreading diseases. Boparai told that in 1969 the 500th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated in Sultanpur lodhi. At that time this Nagar Council came into existence. Now 50 years have passed but no solid arrangement for garbage is made. He made an appeal to the Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh that on the 550th Prakash Purb lacs of sangats are coming. So, before it proper arrangement of garbage should be made. Garbage of Sultanpur Dehati area is also being thrown on the land of railway station. That is also from time to time disposed of by Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal but there is no proper place for it also.
