Vice-president Venkaiah Naidu released a book on 50 Sikh dignitariesSant Seechewal and Sant Sewa Singh's works towards environment acclaimed.
Dedicated to the 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji a book "Prominent Sikh of India " is released today by the Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu This book is written by Dr. Prabhleen Singh and it was published by the Punjab University Chandigarh. A samagam was arranged at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel conference hall at Vice-president house to release this book written in English.
Vice-president Venkaiah Naidu referring to this book said that he is much happier that this
book dedicated to forthcoming 550th Prakash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 2019
will be motivational for the coming generations. Sikh Brotherhood has always
played a leading role in the works of nation’s freedom and development.
He said that the fonder of Sikh religion Shri Guru Nanak Dev
Ji had always spoken for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden people. The
main principle of Sikh religion is Kirt karna, Naam Japna and Wand Chhakna.
Vice-president Venkaiah Naidu said that preference should be given to one's
mother tongue. Referring to the renowned dignitaries of the nation he said that
they had reached the high posts only studying in their mother tongue. Which
include APJ Abdul Kalam and other many dignitaries.
Vice Chairman of Minority Commission Tarlochan Singh while
addressing said that the dignitaries who had earned a name and fame through
their works in the different parts of the nation are specifically included in
this book. He said that two religious dignitaries Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal
and Sant Sewa Singh who had done motivational works are beautifully mentioned
in this book. He said that Sant Seechewal has rejuvenated the 160 km long river
which is connected with the history of Baba Nanak. Sant Sewa Singh has also
played a big role in improving the environment by planting the trees on large
scale.
On this occasion Ex. Vice Chancler of Punjabi University Dr.
Jaspal Singh in his address reminded the sacrifices of the Sikhs. On this
occasion Ex. Cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, Ex. Central Minister Balwant Singh
Ramuwalia, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee President Manjit Singh G.K,
Randhir Singh, S. P Singh Oberoi, Surjit Singh Shanti,Amrik
Singh Sandhu and many more dignitaries were also present.
